Potions for Wellness: Autumn Skill Share

Posted on October 17, 2019October 22, 2019 by Aurora Dawning

“Action on behalf of life transforms. Because the relationship between self and the world is reciprocal, it is not a question of first getting enlightened or saved and then acting. As we work to heal the earth, the earth heals us.”

Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants

We are in a time of transition.

As the bounty of our surroundings begins to wither, foragers and hedge witches alike are headed into the hills of Pittsburgh: plucking that which is needed and preparing for the lean times ahead. They know that there is medicine all around us, if we are willing to offer our energy and awareness to it.

This practice is the topic of Reclaiming Pittsburgh’s first seasonal skill share of the 2020 season- Potions for Wellness: the art of conjuring magical and medicinal tinctures!

What is a skill share?

Skill shares are short, informal classes located in Allegheny county. Co-facilitated by 2 – 3 volunteers, they offer participants an opportunity to collect magical knowledge to be added to their basket of skills at little to no cost. It is also an opportunity to connect with local Reclaiming Pittsburgh workshop facilitators and just hangout doing the things that witches love.

How often do Skill Shares happen?

Reclaiming Pittsburgh commits to four seasonal skill shares during the 2020 cycle: Autumn (October – November), Winter (January – February), Spring (March – April) and Summer (May – June.) As we flow through each one, facilitators and topics will change. We hope that they serve as opportunities to learn, discover, reveal and connect with each other.

How much do Skill Shares cost?

Skill shares are donation based. Facilitators will consider cost of supplies and space rental when determining a suggested donation price. Participants are then able to choose how much they are willing and able to donate as compensation for their attendance. After the expenses of the skill share are covered, the remaining funds will be donated to Reclaiming Pittsburgh: your support helps make future events more affordable for our community.

Coming Up

Autumn Skill Share: Potions for Wellness

DATE:  Sunday, November 10th from 2:00pm – 4:00pm
LOCATION: Private residence in Garfield, Pittsburgh
HOSTS: Aurora and Echo
SUGGESTED DONATION: $10

Join witches Aurora and Echo of Reclaiming Pittsburgh as they share their Hedge Witch skills: conjuring magical and medicinal tinctures!

Intention

We empower ourselves to notice our Plant Allies, intuit their healing powers and channel their essence into potions for wellness.

Description

During this two hour Skill Share, we will acknowledge what healing flora grows naturally in Pittsburgh, discuss some foraging tips, explore how intuition can serve our wellness needs, examine the limitations of intuition in healing the physical body and make our own tinctures for the upcoming season of colder months.

Each participant will receive:

★ (1) jar of herbs in a vinegar mixture (not alcohol! In solidarity with our sober community members)
★ (1) tincture bottle for vinegar mixture to be transferred into when the wellness potion is ready for use
★ An afternoon of crafting fun with other local witches!

Suggested Donation

$10 to go towards cost of supplies. The rest will be donated to future Reclaiming Pittsburgh events! If you are unable to donate this, please note that at the bottom of your RSVP

Space is limited! To register, please fill out this form and send $5 to paypal.me/aurorathewitch on or before Saturday, November 9th to save your spot. If you are unable to donate this $5 toward the cost of supplies, the money will be returned to you on the date of the skill share.

We look forward to making magic with you!
